What is breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation is aimed at enhancing the size and shape of the patient’s breast using breast implants. Breast implants are usually filled with silicone or saline. A softer and more natural feel of the breast is usually achieved with silicone breast implants. Breast augmentation using breast implants offer an instant lift to the breasts and increase in volume and are one of the most common cosmetic operations in the world with high patient satisfaction rates.
Are breast implants safe?
Breast Implants are generally safe although they may not last a life time. Patient’s may need to have revision surgery due to silicone leakage or implant rupture, displacement or if they develop capsular contracture (hardening of the scar tissue).

What is the recovery for breast augmentation surgery?
Most breast augmentation surgery is done as day surgery. Patients will be given oral pain killers to take home and recovery is usually within 2-3 weeks. Most patients need to wear a post surgical bra for 4-6 weeks and can resume gentle exercise involving the upper body after that time.
