Breast Augmentation

What is breast lift surgery?

A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts to give them a more youthful and firm appearance.

As skin ages, it loses some elasticity, which can cause the breasts to lose their natural shape and firmness.

A breast lift may also be completed in conjunction with breast enlargement surgery (augmentation) if there is insufficient tissue or fat to obtain the desired curvature.

How can I be sure of the outcome of breast lift surgery?

Why not try before you buy? Dr Cheung now offers patients cutting edge Vectra 3D Imaging Technology which provides a 3D simulation of the results that can be achieved in breast lift surgery (as well as augmentation and reduction procedures).

The Vectra Breast Simulation tool takes multiple photos from many different angles and once a three-dimensional image is captured, highly sophisticated computer software is used to create life-like models of how patients ‘new’ breasts would actually look like on them.

The technology allows patients to view the images from any angle, with the ability to zoom in for a closer look, superimpose the 3D image over their photo, compare side by side or fade between the two images.

Using the Vectra system gives you the best understanding and most realistic visual of what can be achieved to help you make the right decision with your surgeon for the outcome you desire.

  • View their breasts in three-dimension from any angle
  • Zoom in for a detailed look
  • Superimpose the simulation over existing breasts
  • Compare your “now” breasts with your new look breasts or fade between the two images

Breast Reduction

What does breast reduction involve?

Breast reduction surgery (or reduction mammaplasty) is the reshaping of breasts in order to make them smaller, lighter and firmer. This is achieved by removing excess fat, glandular tissue and skin.

Large breasts can cause physical pain, as well as emotional distress and social anxiety.

Women who take advantage of breast reduction surgery find they are able to lead a healthier, more comfortable life, in addition to enjoying the confidence of a beautiful, more proportionate appearance.

This surgery is also used in the correction of post-surgical breast symmetry, in cases of congenital defects, or ptosis of such severity, that it limits a woman’s capacity to carry out functions of everyday life.

What are the benefits of breast reduction surgery?

Breast reduction surgery is for women whose large breasts adversely impact on their physical health and psychological wellbeing.

Many women with large breasts suffer skin rashes and infection, back and neck pain, body image issues and may avoid engaging in physical activities or social outings which reduces their overall quality of life.

Revision Breast Implant Surgery

Breast implants are not “lifetime” devices. And the warranties on most implants are only for 1 years, although many will last 10 to 15.

This means that a secondary breast surgery is virtually a given in the patient’s lifetime once they have had the initial implants.

In some cases, women may request a revision surgery earlier than this, because they are unhappy with the implants due to a change in their body shape or who have gained excess weight.

Other reasons women seek breast revision include capsular contracture, a common complication of breast surgery, where saline or silicone breast implants can cause the reconstructed breast to shift, change shape or feel quite hard.

Another concern may be about rupture or migration of implant, or some women may wish to change from say saline to silicone or a different style of implant.

Less commonly, some women also frequently opt for a breast size “that is not too noticeable” but when they get their new breasts, they like them so much, sometimes come back to go up a size or two more a few years down the track.

What happens in breast revision surgery?

Dr Cheung will thoroughly discuss any issues you have with your current breast implants and also work with you to find more suitable implants for your situation.

This surgery is undertaken as a day surgery, and you will not be able to drive after surgery.
